English Education - M.S. Ed
This 37-semester hour program blends on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings and leads to New York state initial teacher certification in secondary English language arts, grades 7-12. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout the curriculum, and the program culminates in full-time student teaching. This program requires the successful completion of an undergraduate degree in English (or its equivalent), with a minimum of 36 credits completed in the content area.
English Education - M.A.
This program leads to professional certification for teachers who possess certification in English 7-12 or initial certification in English language arts. It provides advanced study in the curriculum, pedagogy, and content of English language arts. Individuals may also select concentrated studies in middle level 5-6, gifted education, or bilingual education certification extensions.
English Education - B.A
Courses in this program lead toward New York state initial teacher certification, English, grades 7-12. Secondary education programs are designed to blend on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings, culminating in full-time student teaching. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout all aspects of the program.
Secondary Education, Adv. Cert.
An Advanced Certificate is also available in secondary education for students seeking grades 7 to 12 certificates who possess an advanced degree in a related content area.
