Student Access Services (SAS)

Student Access Services (SAS), located in 107 Mack Student Center, arranges academic accommodations and provides support for students with disabilities.

In order to access services, students must:

  1. Formally disclose their disability [ Download .DOC ] by
  2. registering with the office [PDF]
  3. then, they must submit appropriate documentation for review Download .DOCX ].
  4. Once registered, current and prospective students can access SAS forms.

We are available to help students with the registration process, and then will work with students to determine which accommodations are appropriate for their needs. In addition to arranging accommodations, a major part of the mission of SAS is to help students develop the skills they will need to be effective self-advocates at Hofstra and beyond. Our programs and services will encourage active involvement from students in managing their own disabilities, while offering coaching and support along the way.

Our programs for students with disabilities that have registered with us include:

  • Program for Academic Learning Skills (PALS). PALS is a fee-based  program designed to assist students with learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD, and entry is determined by application and interview at the time of admission into Hofstra.
  • Academic Coaching program [PDF]. Academic Coaching is a fee-based short-term program that students registered with SAS can enroll in for a semester or longer as needed. Please note that the Academic Coaching fee will be $2,750 per semester.

Attention Professors, please visit Faculty Syllabi Statement [PDF] for updated syllabi materials. Services for Students Access Services wants to help you have current information on your syllabi in the event that students taking your classes might have questions about registering with our office.
