CONVENIENT ON-CAMPUS INTERNSHIPS

Prepare for multiple career paths in a broad field of health settings with the Master of Arts (MA) in Marriage and Family Therapy at Hofstra University. Complete your internships on campus at Hofstra’s Counseling and Mental Health Professions Clinic and in off-campus clinical settings. Attend full-time and complete the program in about three years. Part-time study is also available. No GRE is required, and scholarships are available for qualified candidates.

To be considered for the MA in Marriage and Family Therapy program, you must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, human development, family studies, behavioral sciences, human services, or similar discipline preferred but not required. Prerequisite undergraduate courses are required in:

  • Psychology
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Sociology or anthropology

Start your application online where you can upload the following documents:

  • Transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. You may initially submit unofficial copies of your transcripts for your application review, but official transcripts will be required once you are accepted into the program.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Personal statement describing your professional intent and pertinent information relating to your ability to succeed in the field.
  • Personal interview with the program director or faculty member.

The preferred application deadline for the fall semester is August 15 and for the spring semester is January 15. All others will be reviewed based on available space.

The MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, is awarded to students who successfully complete 54 hours of coursework.
