Prof. John Impagliazzo
Professor of Computer Science
Dr. John Impagliazzo completed his Ph.D.
in mathematics from Adelphi University in 1983. He holds a master's degree in mathematics and a master's degree
in engineering; he holds two undergraduate degrees: one in physics and one in electronics. His study and work in
computing spans four decades. He joined Hofstra's computer science department in 1984 and served as its department
chair for six and one-half years.
Professor Impagliazzo has authored or coauthored over six books that includes a graduate text in Mathematical
Demography by Springer-Verlag. His current works include three texts (coauthored with Dr. Paul Nagin) published
by John Wiley entitled: Computer Science: A Breadth-First Approach with C, Computer Science: A Breadth-First Approach
with Pascal, and Computer Science: A Breadth-First Approach with C++. He has made over 40 professional presentations
in computer science and mathematics around the world, including a week-long presentation at the International Centre
for Theoretical Physics in Europe. His activity within ACM includes the chair of its Accreditation Committee, the
chair of the 1996 SIGCSE Technical Symposium, and the creation of the ACM Two-Year College Education Committee,
which he chaired for three years. He is also a commissioner and team chair for the Computing Sciences Accreditation
Commission. |
