Payment Options
The Office of Student Accounts provides several different payment options to students and those helping them pay for their education. Below is a brief explanation of the different payment options available. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us by mail, e-mail or phone.
- Monthly Payment Plan - For your convenience, Hofstra University allows students to use a payment plan service to spread their payments out over a period of several months. If you wish to participate in a payment plan, call 1-800-635-0120 or visit www.tuitionpay.com/hofstra. Call your Student Account Representative if you have questions. When calculating the amount for your annual TuitionPay Monthly Plan, please note that it is a yearly contract amount. Please refer to www.hofstra.edu/tuition for tuition and fee information. Note: Tuition and fee information on the Web site is for one term and should be doubled to determine the annual amount. TuitionPay participants are not entitled to defer any balances beyond their financial aid and plan amounts.
- Deferred Payment - Students may defer a portion of their amount due after financial aid. This amount cannot exceed $3,500 or be greater than 50 percent of the amount due after financial aid deductions. The amount deferred for fall is due by October 15 and the amount deferred for spring is due by March 17.
- In-Person Payments - Payment may be made in-person at the Office of Student Accounts, in Memorial Hall, Room 206. Payment may be made by check, money order, cash or credit card (MasterCard or VISA only). Checks and money orders should be drawn to the order of Hofstra University.
- Mailing Payments - We use a lockbox payment processing center for all mail payments. Payments may be made by check, money order or credit card (MasterCard or VISA only). Checks and money orders should be drawn to the order of Hofstra University.
- Web Payments - Hofstra University is working to make paying your bill even more convenient! Web payments will not only save you time in paying your bill, but it will help reduce costs. You can pay by check or credit card (Master Card and Visa). Payments may be made via the Web by logging into the Hofstra Online Information System through the MyHofstra Portal. Log onto My.Hofstra.edu, go to the Hofstra Online tab and click on Student Payment Center.
A personal check returned by the bank will be charged back to the student’s account and the student’s account will be assessed a $25 returned check fee. In addition, a hold will be placed on the student’s account prohibiting many of Hofstra University’s services.
When a personal check has been returned, the student must remit payment in the form of cash, certified bank check, money order or credit card to satisfy the outstanding balance or the student will also be subject to account restrictions, including but not limited to, cancellation of current term and future term classes for non-payment, restriction from payment by personal check, etc.
Hofstra University reserves the right to rescind the option to pay via personal check.
