Welcome To Robotics Workshop 2013
For Girls and Boys Entering Grades 4-9
Session 2: July 15 - 26 (Grades 4-9)
Session 3: July 29- August 9 (Grades 6-9 Only)
Using Lego Mindstormers NXT Robots, campers will learn fundamental engineering, and related problem-solving techniques through the completion of various robotic challenges. Campers will also explore and discuss the abilities of their robots and its included sensors.
Campers will be tasked with the following: breaking down challenges, designing robots, collaborating, planning, and creating robotics programs in small and large groups, as well as analyzing how other robots work.
Through fun and interesting challenges, campers will learn how to think like an engineer, and come up with solutions to problems.
Repeating campers are welcome, as projects change in each camp session.

Program Director: Sally Rosenberg
M.A., computer graphics, New York Institute of Technology; B.A., fine arts/marketing, SUNY Albany. With twelve years of experience teaching graphic design, Web development, and game art and design to children and adults, Ms. Rosenberg is a co-founder of Game Builders Academy. One of her published works, Multimedia Projects BASICS: Curriculum-Specific Projects for Adobe and Macromedia, is designed to supplement the multimedia curriculum for middle and high school students. Adjunct instructor at Hofstra University, New York Institute of Technology, and Westwood College Online. With seven years experience as an instructor with Hofstra Specialty Camps and Saturday Classes for Young People, Ms. Rosenberg is also the resident "mom on board."
Program Co-Director: Michael Pugliese
Co-Founder of Game Builders Academy, holds a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts/Computer Graphics from the New York Institute of Technology where he received multiple awards for his work. Even earlier, he earned a certificate from Hofstra University's Continuing Education department after completing a 5 year program in Cartooning, Computer Animation, and Cartoon Sculpture. Michael has over 10 years of experience in teaching young students, and has developed various courses in Video Game Design for grades K-12. Michael is an experienced Graphic Designer, a published illustrator, and Game Builders Academy's resident aficionado of the video game industry. Nine years’ experience as an instructor with Hofstra Summer Camps and Saturday Classes for Young People.
Note: There is a $50 surcharge per session for additional materials and staff requirements.
