Graduate Programs in Psychology & Counseling

Students in the graduate and doctoral psychology and counseling programs have access to professional opportunities thanks to Hofstra’s relationship with some of the largest and most notable healthcare organizations in the region and the country. Students seeking careers in organizational or school-community psychology can collaborate with other academic disciplines throughout the university. Graduate students in counseling and mental health may intern on campus at Hofstra’s Saltzman Community Services Center, which provides high quality therapeutic and wellness services to the community-at-large.

Home to Healthcare

Hofstra University is steeped in nearly all aspects of the healthcare industry, largely because of a unique relationship with Northwell Health, one of the country's largest healthcare systems and our partner in the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. With so many disciplines, such a talented faculty, and such a variety of students all pursuing careers in health, you’ll find yourself in great company throughout your time here.

Built for Success

Hofstra’s advanced certificate, graduate, and doctoral psychology and counseling programs are designed to help you delve into specific career-oriented studies whether your sights are set on private or school counseling, research, or industrial and organizational psychology. Faculty who are practicing professionals provide perspective into your many career options with internships and cooperative education placements at the core of your education.

Student Experience

Hands-on, real-world training is available on campus at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center, home to the NAEYC accredited Diane Linder-Goldberg Child Care Institute. Students in counseling may collaborate with faculty on research and have internship opportunities at more than 300 off-campus healthcare and educational facilities in the region.
