Welcome/Move-In Day - Fall 2017

Thursday, August 31, 2017 is the start of Welcome Week for residential and commuting first-year and transfer students and the Welcome Day for parents and families. For more information about the Welcome Week Program for STUDENTS, visit hofstra.edu/welcomeweek. Both commuting and residential families are cordially invited to attend the parent and family program on August 31 (see below).

The residential students learn the move-in time in the room assignment message emailed to their Hofstra Pride email account. Off-campus and commuting students should also check their emails for the check-in time on August 31.

Are you wondering about any of Hofstra’s programs or services? Look for the parent and family tent and we will answer your questions or direct you to the right department.

Join Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz, Vice President for Student Affairs W. Houston Dougharty, and Vice President for Enrollment Management and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Jessica Eads as they welcome new students and families to the Hofstra community. After the ceremony, please say goodbye to your student. S/he will continue with Welcome Week activities, September 1-5. Students will be engaged in events and sessions throughout the Labor Day weekend.

4:00 p.m. 
Family Reception and Mini-Orientation
After a reception with light refreshments, parents and family members learn how to become engaged members of Hofstra's community. Parents and guardians who did not attend this summer’s Family Orientation are especially encouraged to attend. 

Note: Breakfast/lunch/dinner are available for purchase at many dining facilities on campus, including Mack Student Center Dining Room and Bits ‘n’ Bytes. A complete schedule for Hofstra's dining facilities is at hofstra.edu/dining. If you need a hotel room, you may consult our list of nearby hotels. If you want to register for Hofstra Fall Festival - Family Weekend, please visit hofstra.edu/fw.

First day of classes is Tuesday, September 6, 2016. 

Upper-Class Move-In: Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors
