Tutoring can help you keep up with coursework, strengthen your understanding, and build effective study habits. Work with tutors to explore challenging material, ask questions, and find new approaches to learning. You can connect with other Hofstra students along the way — all at no cost.
Tutoring schedules typically become available during the second or third week of the semester. Some programs share drop-in hours on their websites or in Canvas, while others use scheduling platforms such as Nimbus or WC Online. Contact the department or program listed above for instructions.
Schedules vary, but tutoring is generally available on weekdays, with sessions typically ending by 8 p.m. You may be able to attend between classes, and some programs offer online sessions through Zoom. Check with the department or program for current hours and formats.
Start early and attend regularly to build your understanding throughout the semester. Bring your course materials, review the content, and attempt assignments before your session so you can come prepared with specific questions.
During group sessions, tutors may encourage you to share ideas and work with other students. These conversations can introduce different perspectives, help you explore new approaches, and connect you with classmates for future study groups.
Each department sets its own guidelines for using tutoring services. Contact the department or program for details.
When participating, you are expected to follow Hofstra’s Community Guidelines and Academic Honesty policies. Violations may result in the loss of access to free tutoring services.
