DEPARTMENT OF

MUSIC

About the Department

The Department of Music prepares students to excel as performers, educators, and scholars through a balanced program of theory, history, and practice. With New York City just a short train ride away, students gain access to world-class performances, internships, and professional networks, as well as opportunities to participate in ensembles, recitals, and collaborative projects across a wide range of musical styles.

Our professors are award-winning, active teacher-performers. You may have seen them perform at Birdland, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Opera, on Broadway, and stages around the world. And the coordinator of our music business program is a record label veteran credited with discovering and signing Grammy Award-winning artist John Legend.

The Student Experience

As a student in the Department of Music, you’ll have access to the resources and opportunities you need to enhance and extend your education.
