HOFSTRA COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES

TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING GRANT

About the HCLAS Transformative Learning Grant

Made possible through the generosity of donors, the HCLAS Transformative Learning Grant (TLG) supports students pursuing meaningful learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom. TLG funding helps offset out-of-pocket expenses associated with:

  • Study abroad programs outside the United States.
  • Internships, seminars, community-engaged learning, and other educational activities that involve travel within the United States.

These experiences can be transformative, enriching a student’s academic journey and deepening their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

  • Hands-on engagement with course material strengthens critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills — key to academic and professional success.
  • Research beyond the classroom fosters independence and builds confidence in scholarly inquiry.
  • Studying abroad expands global awareness by immersing students in new cultures, perspectives, and ways of life, cultivating intercultural understanding essential for today’s careers.
