Students in speech-language-hearing sciences engage with a vibrant network of honor societies and professional organizations that support academic excellence, service, and career development. From undergraduate recognition through Sigma Pi to local and national involvement with the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and leading professional associations, students build community, gain insight into the field, and connect with broader professional and scholarly networks.

Teaching laboratories in speech-language-hearing sciences provide students with hands-on learning experiences that connect theory to practice. In these lab settings, students develop technical skills, observe and analyze communication processes, and apply evidence-based approaches under faculty guidance — building a strong foundation for clinical training, research, and professional practice.

The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at the Saltzman Center provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for children and adults with communication disorders. Supervised by certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists, the clinic combines clinical excellence with community engagement, specialty programs, and hands-on learning. It serves as both a vital community resource and a rich training environment grounded in ethical, evidence-based practice.
