UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN

PHILOSOPHY

Why Study Philosophy

Philosophy is the study of big questions about truth, justice, ethics, science, art, politics, and what it means to live a good life. At Hofstra, you’ll develop the analytical, ethical, and conceptual skills that make philosophy majors stand out in fields ranging from law and business to medicine, technology, public policy, and the arts. It’s no surprise that philosophy majors consistently score among the highest on exams such as the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT and go on to become leaders across industries.

The program trains you to analyze complex ideas, think creatively, and build strong arguments, skills that are always in demand. Through courses that connect philosophical thinking to contemporary issues, such as neuroscience, public policy, and software design, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the values that shape society and the tools to navigate an ever-changing world.

Think Bigger

Philosophy sharpens your reasoning; strengthens your communication; and opens doors to careers across law, business, public policy, technology, medicine, and the arts.
