Hofstra University Pride Productions produces live online broadcasts of select Hofstra events, including NCAA Division I athletics.
The service, which began in December 2013, utilizes a broadcast team composed mostly of Hofstra students who act as directors, technical directors, camera crew, and graphics and replay operators, getting hands-on experience with state-of-the art HD broadcast systems.
“Pride Productions fulfills two primary parts of our mission. It is a community service, as well as a great experiential learning opportunity for our students,” said Melissa Connolly, vice president for University Relations. “Hofstra sponsors thousands of cultural, athletic and academic events every year, and Pride Productions provides access to them to a much wider audience. At the same time, the students who work with Pride Productions get invaluable experience working on live, multi-camera broadcasts.”
Said Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway: “Our athletic program is committed to providing a digital network that includes Pride Productions broadcasts, real-time statistics and social media, as well as additional future enhancements. All of these exciting opportunities further strengthen our athletics program and provide our fans with a more comprehensive way to follow Hofstra games and interact with Pride athletics.”
