Hofstra CE: Registration Procedures

You may register by Internet, telephone, fax at (516) 463-4836, mail, or in person. Tuition and fees are payable in full at the time of registration. Students are not considered officially registered until payment has been made in full.

Add/Drop
Students registered for Continuing Education courses may request to add one course and drop another, by sending an Add/Drop/Withdrawal request in writing to the Continuing Education Registrar’s Office via fax at (516) 463-4836, postal mail or in person. Certificate students must obtain their adviser’s approval prior to making schedule changes.

Withdrawing from a CE Course for a Refund
If you are taking Hofstra CE courses you may drop a course by completing and sending an Add/Drop/Withdrawal form, in writing, to Hofstra CE Registrar Office via fax at (516) 463-4836, postal mail, or in person. Certificate students must obtain their advisor’s approval regarding dropping a course and alternative program planning.
  • If you withdraw from a program before it commences, a $25 nonrefundable withdrawal fee is applicable per program.
  • No refunds will be issued after a program begins.
  • Add/Drop/Withdrawal requests must be made in writing.
  • Tuition for online courses and materials fees are nonrefundable.
  • Fees are nonrefundable. The materials fees are refundable only if the student drops the class prior to the first class and has not received the materials.
  • Refund processing takes approximately four (4) weeks.
  • Failure to attend class or notification to the instructor does not constitute official withdrawal.
Withdrawing from a Saturday Classes for Young People Course for a Refund
Withdrawing From a Saturday Classes Course for a Refund. You may drop a Saturday Classes course by completing and sending the Add/Drop/Withdrawal form to the Continuing Education Registrar’s Office via fax at 516-463-4836, postal mail or in person.
  • A $50 non-refundable withdrawal fee is applicable per class.
  • No refunds will be issued after a program begins.
  • There are no refunds for withdrawals after a course starts.
  • Tuition is refunded in the form in which it was paid and will be issued only in the original form of payment.
  • Online courses and materials fees are nonrefundable.
  • All refund requests must be made in writing using the Add/Drop/Withdrawal form.
  • Refund processing takes approximately four (4) weeks.

Withdrawing from a Youth Spring Break and/or Precollegiate Program for a Refund
Withdrawing from a spring break and/or Precollegiate Program for a refund. You may drop a spring break and/or Precollegiate Program by completing and sending the Add/Drop/Withdrawal form to the Continuing Education Registrar’s Office via fax at 516-463-4836, postal mail or in person.
  • A $50 non-refundable withdrawal fee is applicable per class.
  • There are no refunds for withdrawals after a course starts.
  • Tuition is refunded in the form in which it was paid and will be issued only in the original form of payment.
  • All refund requests must be made in writing using the Add/Drop/Withdrawal form.
  • Refund processing takes approximately four (4) weeks.

Refunds for Cancelled Courses
Hofstra University Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel courses or to adjust curriculum. Typical reasons for course cancellation include insufficient enrollment, the withdrawal of the instructor, or inability to schedule appropriate instructional space. If you are registered in a course that is cancelled, Continuing Education will notify you by telephone or mail. Refunds will only be issued to the original form of payment. You will be asked if you wish to register for a different course or if you wish a full refund of tuition and fees.
