Introduction to Carpentry
Build your skills, creativity, and confidence!
Discover the basics of residential carpentry while learning how to safely use hand tools and power tools. Work together with classmates to build a small housing structure in the classroom and complete your own personal project to take home. This hands-on course is perfect for students who enjoy working with their hands and want to explore a future in the skilled trades.

Construction Trades Academy: Woodworking Projects
Build, create, and design projects that show off your craftsmanship!
Take your carpentry skills to the next level! Learn the proper use of hand and power tools while developing techniques for rough, fine, and finishing work. Students will complete multiple take-home projects that vary each summer and reflect their personal interests. Past creations have included folding tables, jewelry boxes, picture frames, Adirondack chairs, and planter boxes. This course welcomes both new and returning students ready to build something amazing.
Take-Home Project: Multiple completed woodworking projects.
Schedule: This is a full day program in the Construction Trades Academy, which will take place at Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center. All classes take place at the Nassau BOCES Barry Tech campus between 10am-3pm. If you opt to use Hofstra Summer Camps transportation camp times will vary.
