Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science offers an exciting learning environment where students pursue unique paths toward undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science or computer engineering. They acquire a strong foundation in programming and application development, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, networking and software engineering.

The department also offers two innovative programs in entrepreneurship that train students to identify entrepreneurial opportunities in the computing industry, write a business plan, be mentored by local entrepreneurs, and implement a prototype of their idea. Minors are also available in cognitive science and computer applications and digital media design.

Elective courses are offered a wide variety of topics such as cybersecurity, data analytics, computer graphics, computer games, mobile and web application development, artificial intelligence and embedded systems. Students may pursue individual research interests by taking independent study courses with our faculty.

Our full-time faculty all hold the highest degrees in their fields, and are active in their research areas. You’ll also learn from industry leaders, among them a co-founder of PC Magazine, who bring real-world experience into the classroom. Links with local companies provide students with opportunities to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom at internships throughout the New York metro area.
