The department produces a full season of professional-level productions yearly and a repertory of student-directed plays twice yearly. Integral to our season is the annual Hofstra Shakespeare Festival.

Degrees & Programs
The BFA in Theater Performance or Production is for the student preparing for a career in the practice of theater as a performer, director, designer, or technician. It is intended to provide the student with specialized in-depth learning. Audition and/or interviews are required for consideration.
The BA in Drama is ideal for students seeking a liberal arts education with a focus on drama. With the BA, you have the freedom to double major, pursue academic-year internships, or take advantage of exciting study abroad programs. Students interested in this program apply directly to the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. No audition or interview is required.

Drama students are encouraged to pursue one or more internships during their time at Hofstra.
Recent examples of internships completed by drama students include ABC Television, Airmid Theatre Company, Atlantic Records, Boneau/Bryan-Brown, HBO, New York City Fringe Festival, New York Neo-Futurists, Pentacle (New York City arts management organization), Pulse Ensemble Theatre, Rabbit Hole Ensemble, Richard Frankel Productions, Walt Disney World, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Yale Repertory Theatre.
