The events of Educate ’08 have gone beyond my expectations to inform and involve students in the political arena.  To say my experience as been tremendous is an understatement. Reporting and producing live from the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota provided me with the rare opportunity to gain a first-hand perspective on the current race for the White House.

Simultaneously, the experience enabled me to both apply and elevate my journalism skills.  In addition, during Educate '08, I was able to attend sessions at Hofstra where political analysts such as Bill Kristol, Maureen Dowd, James Carville and Mary Matalin invigorated and educated students on pertinent political issues.  This fueled a passion within me to seek more knowledge regarding the upcoming election.

Educate ’08 has provided this Long Island journalism student with numerous rare opportunities that shall culminate in the ultimate once in a lifetime experience – witnessing the Presidential Debate on the economy come October 15.
