We want to let you know about the Masters program in Spanish Studies at Hofstra University: a lively and thriving program which you should give your full consideration. You do not necessarily need to have majored or minored in Spanish, as an undergraduate, in order to apply. If you have a B.A. in any subject and a strong reading and writing ability in Spanish language, we warmly encourage you to apply.
We don’t have to tell you the professional advantages of pursuing a Masters degree. An M. A. in Spanish is especially helpful in Education, International Business, International Relations, Law, the media, environmental organizations, immigration, real estate, and government, to name just a few career options. Of course, the Masters in Spanish also provides an excellent basis for pursuing doctoral work in any of these fields. We invite you to take this opportunity to enhance your education, improve your career prospects and your professional status. The Masters in Spanish may be the key to your future!
At Hofstra we offer a masters program in Spanish that is carefully designed for those of you who are already working full-time and need an institution that will offer convenient and flexible schedules. All our graduate classes are offered in the evening time slots, typically three nights a week for a full-time graduate student, although part-time studies are also accommodated. We offer a variety of courses every semester in language and grammar, at a professional or advanced level, courses in the cultures of Latin America, Spain and the Hispanic world at large, courses in cultural criticism, in literature and in history. We draw on the expertise of a large number of accomplished faculty members with international reputations in the field. Our Masters program can be completed in as little as eighteen months. In addition to the on-campus courses scheduled during the fall, spring, and summer sessions, we also offer graduate courses in our highly successful summer program abroad in Spain.
Feel free to send us an email or give us a call. We will be happy to mail you a brochure with the official program. Best wishes in your future career decisions.
Sincerely,
Prof. Benita Sampedro, Coordinator of Masters Program in Spanish
