Hofstra in France Program
June 28 - July 29, 2018
Registration for the France Summer 2018 program is now closed.

Program Highlights

  • Complete distribution courses taught in English (LT/CC).
  • Complete your language requirement.
  • Take classes for your French major or minor, and even take courses with an individual honors option.
  • Take a class in Public Relations that will count as a 3-credit major elective for PR majors and minors and learn about travel blogging.
  • Learn about arts and literature in Paris through guided visits of museums and/or writers’ houses.
  • Spend 10 days in Nice on the French Riviera.

Hofstra in France Program
June 28 - July 29, 2018

Hofstra and non-Hofstra students are encouraged to apply to the Program.

Program Costs*
The program fee of $5,500 covers: Round-trip airfare (New York-Paris/ Nice-New York)
In Paris: Subway passes, hotel accommodations, some meals (minimum of two dinners a week), excursions to a variety of sights and museums in and around Paris.
During the last week on the Riviera: Transportation to Nice, lodging with families, excursions to museums/excursion sites in Nice.

In addition to the program fee, students pay standard Hofstra tuition and fees for six (6) credits.

Application Information
For an application, please visit Hofstra.edu/studyabroad and click on “Study Abrod Applications” under the “Useful Resources” tab.  Download and complete the Hofstra in France Program application and the four (4) necessary forms.  Bring the completed application, necessary forms and $400 nonrefundable deposit receipt to the Office of Study Abroad programs, 107 Roosevelt Hall, South Campus, by Monday, March 7, 2018.

FREN 3: Intermediate French 1 (3 s.h.)
FREN 4: Intermediate French 2 (3 s.h.)
FREN 109 or 110: Advanced Conversation and Culture (3 s.h.)
FREN 142: Readings in French (3 s.h.)

Courses taught in English:
FRLT 43: (LT/CC) Decolonizing the Mind: Contemporary Literature From Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean (3 s.h.)
RLLT 102: (LT) Postmodern Fiction in Romance Languages (3 s.h.)
PR 180C: International Public Relations – with special emphasis on France (3 s.h.)

** Course offerings are dependent upon student enrollment. All courses meet Monday-Thursday. Class work and discussions are supplemented with visits to artistic, literary and historical sites. No previous knowledge of French is required for FRLT 43, RLLT 102 or PR 180C
