Business Education MSEd Program Requirements

  • 5 Year Dual Degree Program in Management (B.B.A.) and Business Education (M.S.Ed.)

    5 Year Dual Degree Program in Management (B.B.A.)and Business Education (M.S.Ed.)

    Qualified undergraduate students can elect to enroll in a dual-degree program, combining their undergraduate bachelor degree in Business Administration with a Management major with a Master of Science in Education in Business Education. This program requires the successful completion of 153 semester hours, including at least 116 semester hours at the undergraduate level and 37 semester hours at the graduate level. It can be completed in five years. Students who are admitted to the M.S. in Education portion of the dual-degree program can use up to 12 semester hours of M.S. Ed.-level graduate course work to satisfy their bachelor’s degree requirements, subject to advisement and approval of the student’s B.B.A. major department chairperson.

    Students admitted to this dual-degree program will receive a B.B.A. in Management upon completion of the following requirements:

    1. the complete B.B.A Requirements described in the Zarb School of Business section of this Bulletin. In particular, successful completion of a total of 128 semester hours, including 116 semester hours of undergraduate course work and 12 semester hours of M.S.Ed. graduate course work; and
    2. the specific major requirements described in the B.B.A. in Management section of this Bulletin.

    Students admitted to this dual-degree program will receive a M.S.Ed. in Business Education upon completion of the entire M.S.Ed. in Business Education requirements described in the School of Education section of the Graduate Studies Bulletin, in particular:

    • Successful completion of a total of 37 semester hours, 12 of which will be satisfied during the fourth year of undergraduate study
    • Successful completion of all required observation hours and student teaching
    • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all graduate work.

  • M.S. Ed in Business Education

    M.S. Ed in Business Education

    Students admitted to the master of science in education program in business education should possess a bachelor of business administration (B.B.A.) degree with a major specialization in one of the following areas: accounting, information technology, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, management, or marketing.  Business education majors must have completed specific studies in the following areas:  Economics (6 semester hours), Ethics (3 semester hours), and Political Science (3 semester hours). 

    Students will then complete a minimum of 36 semester hours in order to fulfill the business core requirements as well as a minimum of 37 semester hours to fulfill the business education requirements.

  • Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education

    Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education

    1. Three semester hours introductory Psychology of equivalent or established competency in the field.
    2. Meet the requirements of the general education for initial certification.
    3. 36 semester hours  in business related course work including accounting, business law, business policy, computer tools in business, economics, ethics, finance, international business, management, marketing, quantitative  methods, and political science or equivalents or established competency in the field.  NOTE:  Students can establish some competency by documenting competency via portfolio.
    4. Program Requirements - Semester Hours: 25
      1. Introductory Courses - Semester Hours: 7
      2. General Methods Courses - Semester Hours: 6
      3. Special Methods Courses - Semester Hours: 3
      4. Student Teaching and Required Seminars - Semester Hours: 9
