Advisory Board

Lori Ames is founder of The PRFreelancer, Inc., an agency specializing in national and international publicity and public relations for authors and small businesses. She received her degree from Hofstra in 1979 and has worked in the book publishing and public relations industries ever since. Ms. Ames began her publicity career at a boutique agency in Manhattan, joined book publisher William Morrow in 1984, and then returned to the agency where she started, staying there until October 2010 when her son became ill. In December 2010, she started her own public relations agency on Long Island, with a full roster of clients. In addition to serving on the Dean's Advisory Board for HCLAS, her agency does pro bono work for the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation and the Michael Magro Foundation. She has written for Speaker, the magazine of the National Speaker's Association, and stories about her have appeared in the Long Island Press, Newsday, and Associated Press, to name a few.

Yxa J. Bazan is Executive Director, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Corporate Program Office at JPMorgan Chase & Co. She is a Compliance Program Manager at JPMorgan Chase. Prior to her current role, Ms. Bazan served as Americas Regional Head for the Bank Network Management Division and as the Global Head of Relationship Management and Americas Regional Sales Head within the Depositary Receipts business. Before joining JPMorgan Chase & Co. in 1999, Ms. Bazan worked as an equity research analyst and as an investment banker at Credit Suisse in New York and as a fixed income research analyst at Credit Agricole lndosuez in Paris and in London. Ms. Bazan holds a Master of Science degree in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University and a BBA degree in International Business from Hofstra University. Ms. Bazan speaks Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Jannelle Brown is the Global Marketing Manager at Edgewell Personal Care. She began her business career in brand management at the Hain Celestial Group (where she had been interning since 2003), after completing the Zarb School's MBA program in Marketing in 2004. At Hain, Ms. Brown was instrumental in implementing very successful brand marketing strategies - especially the strategy that grew the Earth's Best® brand from a $20 million declining brand to one worth over $100 million dollars, and solidified million dollar distribution deals at major retailers including Wal-Mart and Target. At Hain Celestial, she was promoted several times, and kept assuming increased levels of management responsibility until accepting a new role at NBTY in 2011. Within a year, Ms. Brown.ws promoted to Senior Brand Manager of Pure Protein®, the national leading brand in its category.

Bill Crandall is the Founding Partner, Chief Marketing Officer at Steadman Crandall Business Development, LLC. With 30+ years of experience in agency and client brand marketing at top global agencies, he has developed a specific marketing expertise in business development and growth - both company and brand. Until now, he has been Consulting CMO for Della Femina Advertising, one of the most legendary agencies. Before that, Mr. Crandall served at agencies such as Ted Bates, SSC&B Lintas, Campbell-Ewald, Earle Palmer Brown, and Scali McCabe Sloves, et al. His brand experience has included Bubblicious and Trident gums, Bayer aspirin, Friskies Pet Foods, JVC, Lysol, Mennen, Nabisco, Sheraton Hotels, Las Vegas Sands, Jordache, and Bill Blass. He received his BBA and MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University.

Frank D'Agostino is presently the Vice-President of Brand Partnership at the A&E Networks, where he is responsible for overseeing the integrated brand partnerships for A&E's newest lifestyle network FYI. With over 15 years of media and marketing experience, Mr. D'Agostino has worked on various television networks. These include: the Discovery Channel, the Discovery Health Channel, the Travel Channel, TLC, and ION Television. In his previous roles, he conceptualized and executed cross-platform branded entertainment projects and crafted strategic marketing partnerships for various national advertisers across a myriad of product categories. Mr. D'Agostino earned a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra. He is manager of the Hofstra Alumni Media & Marketing Connection group at LinkedIn.

Michael Della Penna is a Cloud/Digital Media Advisor & Angel Investor. He has a track record of launching successful marketing, branding, and sales strategies for leading public and private firms. Most recently, Mr. Della Penna was Senior VP of Emerging Channels at Responsys. His responsibilities included spearheading the overall strategic direction, partnerships, and solution offering across key emerging channels. Prior to Responsys, he founded SuiteDialog and Conversa Marketing, which helped brands ignite conversations and cultivate relationships with customers across the social Web. Conversa Marketing was acquired by Strongview in 2010. Earlier, he served as CMO officer for Epsilon, a leading provider of multichannel, data-driven marketing services; as CMO at Bigfoot Interactive; as VP of strategic development at CNET Networks, Inc., and as VP of marketing at ZDNet. He received a BBA and an MBA from Hofstra.

Ellen B. Deutsch is Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Hain Celestial Group. She honed her skills in advertising and public relations before joining Hain in 1996. Hain Celestial is a leading natural and organic food and personal care products company in North America, Europe, and India - leading "A Healthier Way of Life™." Having completed her BBA and MBA degrees at Hofstra, Ms. Deutsch has been a contributor to industry publications as well as a guest speaker at many events. She often acts as an industry and government liaison for Hain Celestial. She has also been instrumental in the launch of many consumer products, driving sustained brand growth. Ms. Deutsch was a long-term member of the Strategic Partnership Board of the Zarb School and has been honored as a distinguished alumnus. She is on the Board of Directors of Long Island Cares -The Harry Chapin Food Bank, and was a trustee of the Children's Leukemia Research Association. She is also a classical pianist. Ms. Deutsch resides in New York with her three children.

Merrill Dubrow is President and Chief Executive Officer at M/A/R/C Research. He is a 1984 graduate of Hofstra and is leading a top full­ service marketing research company into its fifth decade. He and his team form actionable research strategies and solutions to help clients to drive business growth. In 2014, Mr. Dubrow won the MRA Meritorious Service to Marketing Research award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership, dedication, and commitment that contribute to the marketing research industry. He has served on the MRA Board of Directors and is past National Treasurer. He currently serves on the advisory boards for the University of Wisconsin and Baylor University, is a past President of the AMA Boston Chapter, and co-chaired two AMA Leadership Summits. In addition, he is a sought-after speaker for industry conferences, and has also spoken at Northeastern, Boston University, Harvard, Emory, Hofstra, and the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2006, he has authored The Merrill Dubrow Blog.

Patricia Gabberty (Tricia) is the Senior Vice-President/Head of Regional Marketing for HSBC, Commercial Bank and Global Banking & Markets. Ms. Gabberty's career as a global marketing executive spans 25 years. Ms. Gabberty has a particular focus on branding, strategy, communications/public relations, and sales enablement. She currently serves as the SVP/Head of North America Marketing at HSBC; and Ms. Gabberty has previously been responsible for the marketing divisions at Astoria Bank, MasterCard Worldwide, Citibank, Avis, and Home Bistro (a direct mail startup). Ms. Gabberty holds a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra, where she remains an active alumna by advising and mentoring students. She is also a very active member of the CMO Council and The CMO Club. And Ms. Gabberty is frequently sought after as a panel speaker at leading industry events.

Robert G. Horvath (Bob) is Founding Partner, Golf Professionals of America Players Association. Formerly he served as the Chairman of RAPP Worldwide. With more than 30 years of experience in growing, shaping, and transforming global firms, he is a trusted advisor and business strategist for the marketing community. He has spent the last 20 years driving RAPP's extraordinary growth and transformation from a direct marketing pioneer into a global leader in data-driven, creative brand experiences with 2,000 employees globally. Mr. Horvath's vision has remained effectively simple since day one - make clients more money by making their customer relationships more valuable. His tenure with RAPP includes having served as both Global CEO of the RAPP network and CFO. Before joining RAPP, he spent 13 years at Arthur Andersen in both its advisory and business consulting businesses. He is a graduate of the Zarb School. When he's not traveling the globe for work, you'll find him in New York, spending time with his family and friends at a vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island or boating on the Peconic Bay.

Howard J. Kahn joined East Wind Advisors as a Senior Advisor in 2016, after leading an independent advisory business for 15 years. Howard and his firm played a key role in advising on the origination of almost $1 billion in middle-market transactions, ranging in size from $25MM to $330MM, involving 42 operating businesses. He served as an advisor to numerous companies, including large publicly traded entities, and advised on turn-around strategies and business development opportunities. Howard also advised institutional money managers including private equity; on their investments, divestitures, and capital needs.

In Howard's 20 years of executive management, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cendant Direct Marketing; Vice President of Sales for LIVENT; and Vice President of Sales, for Madison Square Garden including the Knicks and the Rangers, during ownership by Paramount, Viacom, ITT, and Cablevision.

Howard serves on the Executive Committee of the UJA-Federation Business Leaders Forum on Long Island. He earned an MBA from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University, where he chaired and founded the MBA Alumni Group, co-chaired the University Alumni Association, and serves on the Zarb School Advisory Board for Marketing and International Business. Burcak Aksoy Kilincer is Head of Education for Turkey at SAP. She resides in Istanbul, Turkey. SAP Education helps its customers to leverage the value of SAP software. The key to realizing business benefits is through enabling user communities. Together with SAP software sales and SAP Consulting, SAP Education offers a one-stop shop for customers to buy software, implement it, and enable all the stakeholders in their companies. Before joining SAP, Ms. Aksoy Kilincer was the Country Exams Operations Manager for the British Council, with a senior manager role leading the British Council's UK Qualifications Business in Turkey; and a marketing executive at EMES BULK S.A., leading its business development and marketing activities. Earlier, she worked for Exxon Mobil in distribution operations and at Norman Hecht Research as an associate. Ms. Aksoy Kilincer earned her MBA in Marketing at the Zarb School.

Chris J. Kutner is a General Partner, Health Services Group at Rivkin Radler LLP, focusing on health care laws. He represents health care providers and other individuals and businesses operating in the health services industry. Mr. Kutner was trained as a commercial litigator at a large, prominent firm and is experienced in State and Federal courts. He was general counsel with a managed care organization where he was chief compliance and privacy officer, and special counsel to the president/CEO. After eight years in managed care, he re-joined the firm where he began and lead the firm's health care practice. He was named as a Super Lawyer in the Metro New York Area in Health Care for 2014. Mr. Kutner served in the U.S. military, having enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age nineteen. He earned the Air Force Commendation Medal and was honorably discharged. He is a graduate of the Zarb School's Executive MBA program.

Hinde Liepmannsohn is Head of Marketing at Exclusive Networks ME. She resides in the United Arab Emirates. She was born in Toulouse, France where she first studied the law; but then, she realized the importance of her creative side and a strong desire to see the world. This, combined with a fascination for the advertising world and wanting to be fluent in English, Ms. Liepmannsohn moved to New York and graduated Cum Laude from Stony Brook University. To solidify her practical understanding from years of internships and full-time work in various companies in New York and she joined the Marketing and International Business MBA program at the Zarb School. After working for three years in the New York area, Ms. Liepmannsohn then moved to London and now serves as a Marketing Director in the area of B2B professional events.

Jody Longshore is currently the General Manager of North American Oils at Cargill (a diversified company with $135 billion in annual sales). Previously, Mr. Longshore served as Cargill's Director of Corporate Responsibility - responsible for the deployment of a Responsible Supply Chains Strategy that focuses on realizing economic, environmental, and social opportunities while managing risks to create shared value in diverse global operations and supply chains. Before joining Cargill, he worked in several different managerial positions for both Ceridian and General Electric. He specialized in marketing, sales operations, and Lean Six Sigma activities - and he was certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt (a process improvement methodology) at each firm. Mr. Longshore now resides in Chicago and earned a bachelor's degree (BBA) and a master's degree (MBA) in Marketing from the Zarb School. He was a scholar athlete while attending Hofstra.

Kathyrn V. Marinello is Chairman and CEO, Stream Global Services. Ms. Marinello has served on the General Motors Board of Directors for the last six years. She joined the Volvo Board on April 2, 2014. Ms. Marinello has served as Board Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Stream Global Services, Inc. She has also held several management positions at Citigroup, Chemical Bank New York (now JPMorgan Chase), First Bank Systems, and First Data Corporation. She was a Division President of General Electric Financial Assurance Partnership Marketing and Division President of General Electric Fleet Services. Ms. Marinello held the position of President and CEO of Ceridian Corporation and subsequently was Chairman. She has been actively involved in many industry associations, including the Business Roundtable and the Wall Street CEO Council. Ms. Marinello received an MBA from Hofstra. She resides in Minneapolis with her husband and three sons.

Armando Polanco is Vice-President, Content Distribution & Affiliate Partnerships for Madison Square Garden Company. With over sixteen years of experience, he has an accomplished background in content distribution, media sales, marketing, and account management for top U.S. cable, satellite, wireless, and digital media companies. Currently, his role consists of content distribution, marketing, and local ad sales support of MSG, MSG+, and MSG National to the cable, satellite, Telco, and over-the top-businesses. Mr. Polanco previously worked at VIACOM Media Networks for several years, handling content distribution and marketing for twenty nine entertainment brands across multiple platforms. His skills include establishing and maintaining strong, strategic relationships. Mr. Polanco is a graduate of Hofstra, a former professional lacrosse player, and an avid realtor. He lives in Long Island with wife Debra and daughters Adriana and Valentina.

Sharon Saias is currently Vice-President Marketing and Communications at the non-profit Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Formerly she was the Senior Director of Marketing at the non-profit Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer. Before her current job, Ms. Saias' marketing career spanned 25+ years, with both client and agency experience in consumer and business-to-business marketing across a wide range of industries. She served as Director of Marketing at Frontier Communications and grew its Small Business Community by 150% in less than 6 months. As a Senior Brand Manager with Kraft Foods, Ms. Saias completely overhauled the Gevalia's customer membership program and Web site. At illy caffe, a global premium coffee brand, she was Digital Channel Marketing Manager. Earlier, Ms. Saias founded her own consulting business and worked at Ogilvy & Mather. She has two wonderful daughters and resides in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband David. Ms. Saias received a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra.

Nancy Stahl is a Vice-President at Lieberman Research Group, where she is responsible for all quantitative research in the pharmaceutical, retail, and apparel industries. She has 25+ years of research experience with such clients as Bayer Women's Healthcare, Eisai, Pfizer, Watson Pharmaceuticals, Estee Lauder, Transitions Optical, Noven Pharmaceuticals, GSK, Auriemma Consulting Group, Energizer Consumer Products (Playtex), Adrianna Papell, AARP, and Harley-Davidson. She is knowledgeable in all phases of custom market research from proposal writing and questionnaire development through data analysis, report writing, and presentation for consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, and service firms; and she has managed and trained staff on all phases of research. For a time, she was Editor of U.S. Cardbeat®, a syndicated study providing insights on how consumer perceptions impact payments. She earlier worked for NPD, Heller Research Group, and Norman Hecht Research. Ms. Stahl has an MBA in Marketing from Hofstra.

Lawrence Wurzel is co-owner and VP for Innovation at Calico Cottage, Inc., a Long Island-based marketer of an in-store fudge making program used by thousands of retailers across the U.S. He earned a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra and an MBA from Northwestern University (now known as the Kellogg School of Management). Upon graduation, he entered the family fudge business, which at the time was a small operation. Today, Calico supplies equipment and fudge mixes to its business customers, along with all the ancillary items that they want, such as packaging, add-in ingredients and flavorings, utensils, and promotional material. Mix manufacturing occurs in Amityville, Long Island. Calico has changed the way fudge is sold, expanding offerings from a few flavors to hundreds, including Pumpkin Fudge, Watermelon Fudge, and now Red Velvet Fudge. Calico customers (which sell the fudge under their own names) have won numerous "Best Of" awards. Calico supplies outstanding product quality and best- in-class customer service and marketing support.

Gina Zamarelli is the President of RMG Associates. She has over 25 years of financial management experience in banking, as well as a principal and operator of manufacturing companies in several industries. Ms. Zamarelli's banking background includes asset-based lending, providing working capital to growing companies in several industries. She has served at several major lending institutions throughout the United States. Her operating experience includes holding all C-level positions for high growth companies, including President and CEO of a wire harness and lighting manufacturer. Ms. Zamarelli has also specialized in turnaround situations. She currently maintains a consulting practice offering a wide range of financial and operational advice to middle-market companies. Ms. Zamarelli is a Hofstra business graduate.
