Hofstra University has resources for students and entrepreneurs who are looking to grow their startups in the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Practicum

Law students provide legal and intellectual property services to startup companies under advisement from attorneys.

The Scott Skodnek Business Development Center

The Scott Skodnek Business Development Center helps entrepreneurs on Long Island and in the metropolitan area succeed in their various enterprises through a variety of programs. The BDC also assists with minority and women-owned business applications.

Continuing Education Entrepreneurship Camp

Hofstra University Continuing Education administers many pre-collegiate programs, and this summer is holding a camp for high school students interested in entrepreneurship as a career.

The Center for Innovation

The Center for Innovation works with startup companies and industry partners on prototype development utilizing the state-of-the-art facilities and equipment at the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering. The intellectual property developed during this process belongs to the project sponsor, not Hofstra University, and work is performed by Hofstra University experts and outside engineers and scientists.

The MBA Consulting Group

The Center for Entrepreneurship advises and identifies clients for the Hofstra Business Consulting Group (HBCG), a source of strategic consulting for growing businesses and startups in the New York Metropolitan ecosystem. HBCG consultants are MBA candidates and provide a wide range of services such as accounting, business computer information systems, finance, marketing, management and international business.

Hofstra University’s ideaHUb is an incubator and collaborative workspace for students and startup companies. The ideaHUb houses a high-tech makerspace, holds events, and administers Hofstra’s START-UP NY site.
