Why Study Health Science

Do you have a passion for helping people live longer, healthier lives? The field of health science provides a comprehensive understanding of the evolving challenges shaping modern health care, from disease prevention and health promotion to access and delivery of care. At Hofstra, you will build a strong foundation in the sciences while developing critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills. This preparation positions you for advanced study and careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, and other health professions.

In addition to biology, chemistry, and other natural sciences, your courses will focus on wellness, health promotion, and disease prevention while examining the bioethical and legal issues facing the global health industry. Explore issues of interest to you through dozens of elective courses on topics such as aging and long-term care, violence in children/families, mental health, environmental health, and grant funding and proposal development. You will also complete a clinical internship.
