Joanna S. Fishbein

Joanna Fishbein is a biostatistician in the Biostatistics Unit, part of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at North Shore-LIJ Health System. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Professions at Hofstra University. At North Shore-LIJ Health System, Mrs. Fishbein provides statistical consultation and support to clinicians and researchers for clinical studies, including study design, sample size estimation, statistical analyses, data management and interpretation of results. At Hofstra University, Mrs. Fishbein teaches graduate coursework in biostatistics, statistical analysis and programming using Statistical Analysis Software (SAS). Her most current research focuses on identifying and evaluating a set of short-term renal measurements that predict long-term responses for use in future Lupus Nephritis clinical trials. She has published several articles on a variety of health topics, including survival outcomes in oncology patients, bleeding risk in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting, and use of team-based learning methodology for medical resident teaching. Mrs. Fishbein received her master’s in public health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
