Specialization: Environmental and Resource Economics, Economic History, Spatial Econometrics

Soudeh Mirghasemi received her doctoral degree in Economics at University of Arizona in 2015. Her research interests are broadly in Environmental and Resource Economics, Economic History, Spatial Econometrics. Her current research focuses on studying the effect of climate change on agriculture, accounting for spatial heterogeneity in the Ricardian approach. She also studies the political economy of the Bureau of Reclamation dams before World War II. This study helps to understand and evaluate the economic impact of federal dam construction as these investments were a turning point in water investments from private sector to federal in the West. She teaches courses in principles of microeconomics, and environmental economics.
