eduroam

Wi-Fi is available in every building and many outdoor spaces on campus. Please be sure to check out Hofstra's acceptable use guidelines before using the universities Wi-Fi services.

Students, faculty and employees should connect their laptops, tablets and smart phones to 'eduroam'. This secure wireless network is connected to a roaming access service shared by many educational and research organizations around the world. Once your device is logged in, you can connect securely at participating institutions worldwide without having to reenter your credentials – just like a Wi-Fi Hotspot. All current students, faculty and employees can login to this network, as well as visitors from other eduroam institutions. Devices that cannot be connected to 'eduroam', such as gaming and media streaming devices, should be connected to 'Hofstra Guest'.

How do I connect? (see device specific instructions in the table below)

  1. Select 'eduroam' from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and tap the "Connect" or "Join" button.
  2. When prompted for a username and password, enter your Hofstra Portal username in the below format and then your Portal password:

    • students\username@hofstra.edu – if you are a student (i.e. students\h702281306@hofstra.edu)
      OR
    • employees\username@hofstra.edu – if you are an employee (i.e. employees\h702281306@hofstra.edu)

  3. The first time you connect, remember to “trust” or “accept” the certificate that says “secure.hofstra.edu” issued by SSL.com.

Note: The”@hofstra.edu” in the username is NOT associated with an email address. This username format allows your device to connect at participating institutions and ensures a seamless Wi-Fi connection at Hofstra.
