2018 NYS Democratic Gubernatorial Primary Debate Media Credentials

Media interested in covering the 2018 NYS Democratic gubernatorial primary debate at Hofstra University can apply online. Granting of a media credential is solely at the discretion of the debate sponsors. The debate will be held at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, North Campus, also known as the Arena. A media filing/viewing center will be set up in the Arena, adjacent to where the debate will be held. The debate will be live-to-tape from 5-6 p.m., airing at 7 p.m. All media will watch the debate from the media filing/viewing center.
Applications for media credentials must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018.
APPLY FOR DEBATE MEDIA CREDENTIAL
To pick up your credential, you will need to show an official press identification, or a letter on letterhead or email from a recognized news organization indicating that you are on assignment for that organization, and a government-issued photo ID.
Media credential pick-up will be in the lobby of the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex:
- Tuesday, August 28: 12 noon – 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 29: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The media filing/viewing center will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29.
All media must enter North Campus through the University’s main gate on Hempstead Turnpike, opposite California Avenue. Once inside campus, turn right at the Three Bears statue onto Northern Boulevard. Continue straight on Northern Boulevard to the Arena, where public safety officials will direct you to media parking and check-in.
Credentials must be picked up by 5 PM on Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Media can pull the debate video from the 7 p.m. public broadcast. No clean video feed will be provided. No video or audio streaming of this debate or any excerpts on any platform prior to the conclusion of WCBS-TV’s broadcast of this debate at 8 p.m. The video cannot be altered, and the CBS2 “bug” cannot be obscured. WCBS-TV hereby reserves all of it is rights and remedies at law and in equity in the event of any violation of its exclusive rights.

Video: CBS2 will provide b-roll of the debate venue Wednesday, Aug. 29, before 5 p.m. The time and method of this b-roll distribution is TBD.
There will be no video permitted of the debate, other than by CBS2. Recording off the monitors broadcasting the debate inside the media filing center is also prohibited. Anyone found to be recording off the monitors in the media filing center may face removal from the venue.
