Mission
The mission of the Hofstra University Parent and Family Council is to improve communication between the University and family members of Hofstra students. We facilitate a nurturing environment where family members network, learn about Hofstra, and contribute to the academic and personal well-being of Hofstra students. We promote the University by being active ambassadors of Hofstra Pride.
This mission is fulfilled by:
- Providing a forum for parents and families to share new ideas and suggestions for improving student programs and services.
- Serving as a resource to Hofstra families.
- Supporting student and family programs by volunteering time and talent.
- Recruiting parent and family volunteers.
- Hosting regular meetings with University administrators.
Vision
The Hofstra Parent and Family Council aspires to become the primary voice of family members of Hofstra students, of Hofstra’s “family body.” The Council will actively solicit input from family members of all class years and aim to fully reflect the diversity of the Hofstra Pride in its membership. We wish to collaborate and engage with Hofstra administrators to fulfill the missions of the University in providing “a quality education to its students in an environment that encourages, nurtures, and supports learning through the free and open exchange of ideas, for the betterment of humankind.”
Letter from the President
As we step into the 2026-2027 school year, I am excited and deeply honored to serve as President of Hofstra University Parent and Family Council. Being part of this community is a privilege, and I’m looking forward to a year filled with collaboration, connection and meaningful involvement. One of my main goals is to work closely with university staff to find new ways for parents to support the campus through volunteer opportunities. Even small contributions can make a big difference in the lives of our students. I also hope to grow our council so more parents can get involved and connect with one another. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, sharing ideas, or stepping into a leadership role, there is a place for you here. Expanding our membership will help ensure the council remains strong and successful for years to come.
If you would like more information on how you can get engaged, please email parents@hofstra.edu.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Loriann Temkin, P’24 and P’28
