2026 PRESIDENTIAL SYMPOSIUM

As we begin the planning process, we request that each school solicit proposals from their faculty to be submitted directly to their Dean for consideration.

The Dean/School Committee in turn will select one proposal per school to share with the organizers on or before April 30, 2026.

Proposals should be sent to Athelene Collins at hofculctr@hofstra.edu.

Once schools have submitted their proposals and we have completed the review process, time will be given to finalize each panel.  At that stage, you will need to provide the confirmed session title, description/abstract, and list of participants. This will allow us to finalize the program by mid-August and incorporate it into course syllabi before the start of the semester. Panel participants may include school faculty, cross-disciplinary faculty, research students, and/or industry experts. If your session features industry experts, a modest honorarium can be provided for their participation.

Each session will be limited to 60 minutes, followed by an additional 15 minutes dedicated to audience engagement.

The symposium will follow the class times to encourage class attendance:

• 9:40 – 11:05 a.m.
• 11:20 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
• 1 – 2:25 p.m. (not available on Wednesday, Sept. 30)
• 2:40 – 4:05 p.m.
• 4:20 – 5:45 p.m.

Please note that the 1-2:25 pm slot on Wednesday, Sept. 30, is not available as it is scheduled for the President’s State of the University Address followed by a BBQ on the Roosevelt Quad.
