INSTITUTE OF INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Overview
Hofstra’s Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, headquartered at the ideaHUb incubator, has supported the entrepreneurial ecosystem since 2015 through 450+ events, 2,350+ mentor sessions, and over $950,000 in prizes awarded. The Institute provides networking opportunities, prototype development support, and flagship programs such as the Hofstra-Digital Remedy Venture Challenge and Unispan Records, and has been recognized as the GCEC’s “2017 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Center.”
The Institute also collaborates with the Scott Skodnek Business Development Center (BDC), a New York State–designated Entrepreneurial Assistance Center, which supports Long Island entrepreneurs through initiatives such as the EAC 10-Week Program, ASCEND (M/WBE Certification assistance), digital marketing training, and QuickBooks workshops. Since 1991, the BDC has served over 1,400 entrepreneurs and has received multiple Empire State Development Outstanding Performance Awards.
