Mission
The Hofstra Title IX Office addresses allegations of gender-based harassment – particularly sexual harassment and sexual violence. This includes leading campus-wide training and prevention efforts, coordinating University responses to gender-based harassment reports, participating in community coalition-building, and monitoring all related policies, laws, regulations, and guidance that contribute to achieving gender equity on campus.

Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues
The Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues has oversight responsibility for the University’s student-related efforts to comply with and carry out responsibilities under Title IX, a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities. In this regard, the Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues is responsible for overseeing the University’s response to reports and complaints by students against students under the policy of sexual harassment, relationship violence, and sexual misconduct; and for addressing any patterns or systemic problems revealed by such reports and complaints against students. The Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues is responsible for maintaining data about reports of sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual misconduct against students. The Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues is also responsible for referring any reports of sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual misconduct against employees or other nonstudents to the Chief Human Resources Coordinator, who serves as the Title IX Coordinator for Employee Matters. The Title IX Coordinator for Student Issues is available to meet with students as needed.

Title IX Coordinator for Employee Matters
For reports of discriminatory harassment, relationship violence, or sexual misconduct, against a faculty member, other University employee, or other nonstudent, consult the procedures set forth in the Harassment Policy, available at hofstra.edu/harassment. Students should report these matters to the Chief Human Resources Coordinator, who is the Title IX Coordinator for Employee Matters, and who can be reached at 516-463-6859. Students have the opportunity to discuss their rights under the Harassment Policy and available resources, such as counseling or academic support services as necessary and appropriate, with the Title IX Coordinator for Employee Matters.

Equal Rights and Opportunity Officer
While the Student Policy Prohibiting Sex Discrimination, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, & Stalking outline the procedures for reporting sexual misconduct by students, any member of the University community who believes they have been subjected to harassment by other members of the University community, including faculty members, staff members, administrators, and other persons, should refer to the Hofstra University Harassment Policy.
