Hofstra in Beijing and Shanghai
During Summer Session I, the Department of Marketing and International Business offers a study abroad program for both undergraduate and graduate students. Classes offered are IB 157, Global Business Experience (3 credits), MKT 220, International Marketing (3 credits), and IB 207, Global Business Decision-making (3 credits). The program includes three (3) weeks of class on campus and online, and two weeks of travel in China.
Come join us to explore this ancient country with the world’s largest population and a rapidly transforming economy. Observe China up close and personal to gain valuable perspectives about its people, business, history, and culture. Space is limited, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
May 26- June 10 2018 (tentative)
We will visit Beijing, the capital city and the political and cultural center of the country; Suzhou, a picturesque city with traditional Chinese architecture; and Shanghai, the “New York City” of China.
- A trip to Tianjin or Hangzhou via bullet train
- A five-day stay in Shanghai, the largest metropolis in China, to visit companies and other exciting sites
- Visits to retail centers such as Wal-Mart and Carrefour, and local universities and companies
- Market excursions
- Interactions with people in both businesses and universities
For IB 157, the prerequisites are 24 credits and IB 150.
For IB 207, the prerequisites are successful completion of at least three 203-level classes. And for MKT 220, successful completion of MKT 203.
The estimated program fee is about $2,995, plus standard Hofstra University tuition for three (3) credits if taking one class and (6) credits if taking two courses, and visa fees where applicable. The program fee covers round-trip airfare, hotels, travel, and admission expenses while in China.
