Something's A Foot: Small Works from the Hofstra University Museum Collection

David Filderman Gallery

January 4 - September 12, 2010

Works of art do not have to be large in scale to create an impact.  One of the most famous and frequently published paintings of the 20th century is Salvador Dali’s Persistence of Memory - melting clocks in a barren landscape.  The painting measures just 9 ½ inches high by 13 inches wide.

All the works of art in this exhibition measure 12 inches or less.  The dimensions of a work of art may be the decision of the artist, a consequence of their production or due to the object’s purpose.  The exhibition includes works from diverse cultures and of a variety of media.
