Zarb Student Success Stories

Name: RT Zhang
Major/Degree: MBA Marketing/Business Analytics
Hometown: Chengdu, China

Why did you come to the Zarb School?
I chose Zarb because of its high reputation as one of the best business schools, as well as the perfect location because it’s so close to Manhattan, which offers great business opportunities but also provides the comforts of suburban living .

Internship Experience:
My first internship was at Path Interactive working with their SEO team. It was the result of researching hundreds of applications along with the professional help of  Graduate Business Career Services (GBCS). I found my second internship through a professor during a m arketing networking event. As for my current internship, I obtained it through LinkedIn after a professional resume critique with Graduate Business Career Services.

Work Experience:
I currently work at Magnitude Digital on the paid media team. We are located right between Times Square and Bryant Park. It is an internship and my company has already offered me a full-time job after graduation! I love my job because my managers and coworkers are friendly. T hey provide me with good benefits and opportunities such as special training sessions at Google, Microsoft and Yahoo . I am learning a tremendous amount of digital marketing skills every day. I am proud that my team had the confidence in me to handle a direct client call, just two months after joining this team. I was also commended by upper management for introducing clients to my company using my networking connections.

How did the Zarb School prepare you for your career?
Zarb Graduate Business Career Services has helped me grow tremendously. Compared to other successful students, I have a different experience because I worked at Graduate Business Career Services for two years, which has been one of my favorite work experiences. Not only did they help me with resume critique, mock interview and all the career seminars, but my supervisors also trained me to grow as a digital marketing professional and team leader. During my first year at Zarb, I attended several events and grew my LinkedIn connections from zero to 700+. I met some inspiring professionals and student leaders who helped me grow personally and professionally. Without their support , I could have never come this far.

What is your favorite memory/experience at the Zarb School?
My favorite memory at Zarb is when my organization, Zarb Women in Business (ZWIB), won the 2017 Dean’s Office Award for Best Graduate Student Organization. As the president of ZWIB, I felt honored because all of the hard work had been recognized.

What advice do you have for students who want to follow in your footsteps?
There is no shortcut to success. Besides working hard, getting your resume critiqued, attending events and networking, m y sincere advice particularly to all international students would be to immerse yourself in the American culture, practice communicating often and take advantage of all the resources the Zarb School has to offer.
