Internships and Externships in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences
Opportunities for Graduate Students
Graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology complete clinical work and laboratory experiences that complement academic course work. All students complete an initial clinical practicum at Hofstra’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center, which houses the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. The clinic serves as a training center for graduate students and is staffed by certified audiologists and speech-language pathologists who provide diagnostic and treatment services. In addition, students complete three external clinical placements in pediatric, medical and/or educational settings. These clinical experiences are designed to build student competencies in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of communication disorders across the lifespan.
