Why Food Studies
Food studies explores the stories, systems, and power structures behind what we eat. Unique to Long Island and one of only a few in the New York metropolitan area, this minor examines food as culture, business, labor, science, and identity, revealing how issues of race, class, health, sustainability, and human rights intersect on our plates.
Whether you’re interested in public health, education, business, sustainability, social sciences or the humanities, food studies gives you an interdisciplinary lens for understanding and influencing the systems that feed the world.
