University Senate - Hofstra Hall

Fellow Students,

It is my pleasure to be writing to you as Chair of the Student Affairs Committee, a subcommittee of Hofstra University's Senate, to invite you to run for office in our upcoming elections on April 28th. In case you are unaware, the University Senate is the shared governance body on campus, comprised of faculty, staff, administration and student representatives all working together to address issues relating to University affairs.

Being a Senator affords you the unique opportunity to get to know and work with the Provost, Vice Presidents, Deans, Professors, Staff, and fellow students to influence real change at Hofstra. If you are interested in effectuating change for the better at Hofstra you will find this to be exciting and rewarding work.

Since the beginning of this year, the Student Affairs Committee has been highly involved in promoting some of the most pertinent issues facing our campus, including the food services, the academic calendar, shuttle routes, the north campus smoking regulation, and Public Safety, just to name a few.

Having laid a strong foundation, the Student Affairs Committee is on a path of accomplishing even more great things for students at Hofstra, and your participation will be the impetus for further innovative improvements.

I hope you will consider becoming a part of the University Senate, Hofstra's highly important governing body for academic, social and student affairs.

Thank you,

Jared Sarcka
Chair, Student Affairs Committee
