Topic-Focused Groups

Groups are held once weekly throughout the entire semester. Pre-registration is not required; admission is first-come, first-served.

Sober Circle
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: Mondays at 8 p.m.
Join with fellow sober students to form a social support network and stay connected to others.

Social Network Live
Where: Student Center Room 141/Online
When: Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
Join fellow students to learn better ways to start and maintain social relationships.

Be Here Now
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
Learn how to just “be” at any time through breath, and grounding exercises.

Social Anxiety Group
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Meet peers who understand the struggle! Learn and practice skills for becoming more comfortable in social settings.

Four-Session Workshops

DBT Skills for College Coping & Beyond
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: October Session: Thursdays @ 6 PM 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26| November Session: Mondays @ 1 PM 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27
Life can feel like an ever-changing emotional maelstrom. This workshop focuses on strategies to manage intense emotions, building strong healthy relationships, and coping through stressful moments without making a bad situation worse. This workshop is informed by "Dialectical Behavior Therapy," or DBT, which is a skills-based therapy used to treat many mental health concerns.

ACT Skills for College Coping & Beyond
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: October Session: Wednesdays @ 1 PM 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25 | Session 2: Tuesdays @ 6 PM 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28
When classes get tough, it can be hard to remember the point of getting a degree. This workshop focuses on identifying one's values and engaging in values-based living around the goals that really matter. This workshop is informed by "ACT" which stands for "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy," but also for taking committed ACT-ions around goals.

The EVERYBody Project
Where: Room 148 Wellness and Campus Living Center, North Campus
When: October Session: Mondays @ 7 PM 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23
Challenge societal beauty ideals, resist pressure to strive for unattainable bodies, and increase self-acceptance while meeting like-minded peers. Designed for all genders.

There is no charge for participation in groups or workshops. Attendance is limited to currently enrolled Hofstra University students and only to group participants (no observers). Please visit our website for additional group offerings throughout the semester.
