Community Service Opportunities FALL 2016
Socktober: Collect old or new socks and place them in collection bins in front of TD Bank, Hammer Lab, and the Office of Commuting Student Services and Community Outreach to donate to the Mary Brennan INN of Hempstead, NY
Halloween (CAN)DY DRIVE: Collect non-perishable goods and place them in the collections bins in front of TD Bank, Hammer Lab, and the Office of Commuting Student Services and Community Outreach to donate to the Mary Brennan INN of Hempstead, NY and the Hofstra Food Pantry.
Collection begins October 5, 2016 and ends November 5, 2016 at 12PM
Rebuilding Together Long Island: Hop aboard the Rebuilding Together team to go out into the community to help rebuild houses and buildings that were destroyed in natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy. Get your hands dirty and learn how to operate a drill as you help to start, continue, or finish the rebuild. (DATE TBA)

Midnight Run: TIME FOR SOME FALL CLOSET CLEANING? Collect old or new clothing and donate them to the boxes around campus labeled ‘Midnight Run.’ Take our bus into Manhattan and personally hand out the clothing collected to the homeless of New York City.
Date of run: December 7, 2016- 8PM.
**In order to participate in the actual run, you must attend at least ONE of the Midnight Run sorts the two days prior to the run (December 5/6, 2016)**
Ronald McDonald House- Little Hands Helping Little Hands: Do you enjoy baking? If so, you have the opportunity to bake delicious holiday treats for the children of the Ronald McDonald House, a place where to comfort and shelter is given to families experiencing the pain of having a sick child in local hospital facilities. A “home away from home”, the House provides the parents and siblings of these children with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden. (DATE TBA)
