School of Communication Study Abroad
SCO in Rome! is the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication’s only ongoing study abroad program. Bringing together students and faculty from the School’s two departments—Journalism, Media Studies and Public Relations along with Radio/TV/Film, you will experience international media opportunities, history, and culture in multiple parts of Italy. The four-week summer program (typically running in July) exposes students to one of the most vibrant cities in the world, Rome, the media center of Italy with a rich heritage of communication in all forms to complement its breathtaking arts, culture, and “dolce vita.” The program also includes extensive weekend travel opportunities including long weekends in the south (Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Mt. Vesuvius, Herculaneum, and Naples) and the north (Florence, Venice, and San Gimignano). Students stay in modern dormitory facilities in Rome’s Prati section near Vatican City and “centro storico” (the historical center) with so many of Rome’s extensive and breathtaking attractions just minutes away.
