Identifying an Appropriate Funding Source

One of the most important roles of the Office for Research and Sponsored Programs is to provide assistance in the identification of appropriate external funding sources. One of the most helpful tools is PIVOT (link to the right).

However, successful grant writers recognize that the search for an appropriate funding source requires more than a scanning of abstracts published in databases or directories.

The Office for Research and Sponsored Programs can help you develop effective strategies to identify promising funding opportunities in your discipline. Each semester, we offer workshops to discuss methods many successful grant writers use to identify potential funding sources and to develop responsive grant proposals. Check out the Faculty Research, Education and Development (FRED) workshop calendar to find the next one.

To schedule individual or departmental workshops, contact Associate Provost Sofia Kakoulidis at extension 3-6810.
