Adventure Education Camp 2018

Space Loops: If you like a challenge, here is the elements for you! Participants have to make their way across the sky using ropes with loops for their feet. No cables or wooden planks to walk on, just loops to swing on!

Islands: Did you ever want to go Island hopping with a friend? Well, now here is your chance! Participants will have the opportunity to walk across 5 wooden islands 30 feet in the air. Each participant will start at two different points then make their way across the sky while high-fiving their friend in the middle!

Multivines: Swing just like a monkey in the jungle 30 feet over the Hofstra Ropes course! Participant will be able to use vine like ropes to move themselves across a steel cable while screeching like a monkey or yelling like Tarzan!

Session 2: July 16 - July 27
Session 3: July 30 - August 10

How do you learn to overcome obstacles? Our Adventure Education program is a great way! Modeled after the popular Project Adventure and Outward Bound programs, this camp will teach participants to face mental, physical, and emotional challenges safely and confidently. Personal and social responsibility, trust, effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and cooperation are emphasized as campers sequentially work through ground-level, low-level, and finally high-climbing challenges such as climbing walls and catwalks. With the resulting sense of accomplishment and a newfound recognition that seemingly impossible situations can indeed be overcome, successful adventurists feel like they’re on top of the world! In addition to our three new high elements,we still have our 6 remaining fun filled, thrilling high elements! But, do NOT worry - while you complete these 30 foot tasks, you will be hooked into a harnessed and belayed (supported) by one of our skilled staff members!

Note: There is a $50 surcharge per session for additional materials and staff requirements.

Schedule: Half the day consists of Adventure Education. For the other half of the day, your child is placed in a recreation group of 8-10 campers in of the same grade and gender where all campers enjoy lunch, instructional swim and recreational sports.
