About the Department

The Department of Engineering, ranked No. 29 by U.S. News & World Report, prepares future innovators to solve real-world problems through creativity, collaboration, and design. With access to advanced labs, industry partnerships, and hands-on projects, graduates are equipped to lead in today’s rapidly evolving technological world.

The engineering faculty consist of a team of experienced educators and researchers with expertise across engineering disciplines. Their teaching and applied research emphasize innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning, preparing students for professional practice, industry leadership, and advanced study.

Students majoring in the programs offered by the Engineering Department often pursue internship opportunities. Hofstra’s location in the New York City metropolitan area provides many opportunities in the local region, although students also have taken advantage of internship opportunities across the United States.
