How to Obtain an Anthropology Internship

1-6 semester hours

This internship aims at providing students with an opportunity to apply academic and theoretical knowledge to practical situations. A minimum of 28 hours of on-site internship work per credit in an approved academic, museum, government, non-governmental or research institution is combined with: regular meetings with faculty advisor; reading and writing assignments; and an in-depth term paper that situates the internship experience within a broader anthropological framework. Evaluation will be based on students’ on-site performance, as well as their written and academic work. Prerequisites: successful completion of at least 18 semester hours of anthropology and permission of department chair. A maximum of 3 credits can be applied to completion of the anthropology major.
