AMSA (American Medical Student Association) is an organization for pre-med students.
AMSA (previously as APHOS, the Association of Pre-health Oriented Students) sponsors a number of activities every semester that are intended to provide students interested in medically related fields prepare for their future careers. During the bi-weekly meeting AMSA typically hosts one or more speakers who offer valuable information about medical careers, MCAT strategies, medical school admissions applications, personal statements and the interview process.
The club also sponsors or participates in several charity and volunteer events (in the past we have participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-Mile Walk, the Walk to Cure Diabetes, and a fund-raiser for the Make-a-Wish Foundation). The AMSA officers have several new ideas for this year, and we encourage our members to make more suggestions through the bulletin board on the Pre-Med Students' Blackboard site.
