Candidates for the Master of Arts in Linguistics: Forensic Linguistics are considered on a rolling basis. Thus, there is no strict cutoff date for applying to be admitted in either spring or fall. We do, however, strongly recommend applying early and entering in the fall. Once an application and all supporting credentials are received, the application is reviewed by our Admission Committee.

The program is composed of three components for a total of 36 semester hours: the core curriculum, electives, and master's thesis.

  • Required Core Curriculum Courses (21 semester hours)
  • Elective Courses (12 semester hours)
  • Master's Thesis (3 semester hours)

Students must maintain a B average with no more than one grade of C per semester, or more than two grades of C toward the MA.

Full-time students can complete the program in two years. Part-time students can complete the program in three years; however, the course schedule is designed to enable full-time students to move through the program as a cohort and take the courses in a logical sequence. Scheduling may not be as straightforward for part-timers.
