Student Clubs

Alpha Psi Omega - An American honor society recognizing participants in collegiate theatre.

Dancers in Schools: Dance and Dance Education majors choreograph a lecture-performance, and perform and teach as guest artists at local schools.

Dance Works - a student-run performance club open to all Hofstra students interested in dance.  The club presents their choreography work twice a year.

Imani - Imani Dance Ensemble was established in 1972 and provides the Hofstra community with an outlet for cultural expression through dance. Imani unites hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean, jazz and house styles.

Masquerade Musical Theatre Co. - Hofstra University's student operated musical theatre club. Masquerade strives to produce two quality musical productions a year - one per semester.

MoVoM – This is a club for dance majors.  The club offers students opportunities to present their choreographic work on Wednesdays for the dance students and faculty, culminating with a formal performance at the end of each term.  MoVoM plays an important role for the dance program by making suggestions for the department and selecting various guest artists for workshops throughout the year.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA)National Honor Society for Dance Arts - Students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and are BA Dance, BS Dance Ed, Minor in Dance or have taken 18 credits or more of dance can apply to be in the honor society.

Rhythmix: A newly formed tap dance club to sponsor workshops, jam sessions and performances.

Spectrum - Started by former student, Francis Ford Coppola in 1959, Spectrum offers students opportunities to share their artistic talents and interests with each other. Each semester Spectrum produces a main stage show, traveling children's show, and a night of experimental works.

T'DAA (Teaching Dance as Art): This is Hofstra's dance education club, and is a chapter of the NDEO (National Dance Education Organization). The goals are to provide professional development, cross between subject areas, and change the life of children through dance. Members present at and attend the yearly National Dance Education Organization Conference, organize volunteer opportunities to teach, and sponsor workshops.

Tequila Mockingbird – Created in 2009, Tequila Mockingbird is Hofstra’s first improv troupe. Also offers improve workshops to the general University population, while engaging the entire campus in flash mob events.
