Students in the Rhetorical Studies at Hofstra University can find exceptional internship experiences. The Department is committed to preparing students for the ever-changing world outside of the classroom, and we believe your liberal arts training and communication expertise will give you an edge.

An internship can give you hands-on experience putting class theory to practice, and our proximity to New York City and greater Long Island allows for limitless opportunities. Our students have interned with media and entertainment companies, non-profit organizations, government institutions, and in arts and educational settings including:

  • United Nations
  • Rolling Stone Magazine
  • Comedy Central
  • NHL's New York Islanders
  • Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership
  • CUNY Creative Arts Team
  • Covenant House
  • Youth Theatre Program
  • Joffrey Ballet
  • Marvel Comics
  • US Department of Justice
  • Manhattan Theatre Club
  • Frost & Sullivan Growth Consulting
  • National M.S. Society
  • NBC

Juniors and seniors in good standing are eligible for internship credit, and can earn up to six semester hours toward their degree in fall, spring or summer semesters. While it's not a requirement, we strongly encourage you to pursue an internship in order to enhance your career opportunities. If there's an internship you'd like to pursue or you just have questions, any of your professors in the Department of Rhetoric can help you.

Alexandria Kelly, intern the U.S. Dept. of Justice

Krista Collopy, intern at the National M.S. Society

Rinat R., intern at Comedy Central
